Brevard is 45 minutes south of Asheville, and 10 minutes south of our cabin; so we also spent some time touring Asheville.
Just north of Asheville are the Asheville Botanical Gardens. Free, but mostly for kids; it's a very quick walkaround.
About 20 mins southwest of Asheville is The North Carolina Arboretum. Much larger and more adult-friendly. $12 entrance fee per vehicle.
The bonsai tree exhibit is quite impressive. There are a few miles of trails, so you can easily spend a few hours there if you really want to see everything.
There are plenty of things to do in Asheville / Brevard.
